Install DialRidge on your phone

Two minutes, and there is nothing to download. DialRidge runs in your phone's browser, so you install it by adding it to your Home Screen. You get a real icon, a full screen with no address bar, and a keypad you can work with one thumb.

iPhone

You have to do this in Safari. Chrome and Firefox on iPhone cannot add anything to the Home Screen — Apple does not give them the option, so the menu item you are looking for is genuinely not there. Open Safari just for these three taps; afterwards you can go back to whatever browser you prefer.

1. Open app.dialridge.app in Safari

   Type it into the address bar, or tap the button above from your phone.

2. Tap Share

   The square with an arrow pointing up, in the bar at the bottom of the screen. If you cannot see the bar, tap once near the bottom of the page and it reappears.

3. Scroll down to Add to Home Screen

   It is below the row of app icons, in the list with Add Bookmark and Find on Page. Keep scrolling — it is further down than people expect.

4. Shorten the name to DialRidge and tap Add

   Long names truncate under the icon. The icon lands on your last Home Screen page — press and hold, then drag it into your dock next to the phone app. You will open it a lot.

Android

1. Open app.dialridge.app in Chrome
2. Tap the three-dot menu, top right
3. Tap Install app

   Depending on your Chrome version this reads Add to Home screen instead. Either one gives you the same icon.

4. Tap Add to confirm

   If Android offers Add automatically, take it — the icon is placed for you.

On Samsung Internet: menu › Add page to › Home screen. On Firefox for Android: menu › Install.

The microphone permission

This is the one people skip, and it is the one that breaks calls. DialRidge dials through the browser, so the browser has to be allowed to use your microphone — and it asks exactly once, on your first call.

1. Open the Dialer tab and call your own mobile

   The prompt appears when the first call starts, not when you open the app.

2. Tap Allow
3. Listen for the line ringing in your ear

   Ringback means audio is flowing in both directions. That is your confirmation, before you ever speak to a lead.

Tapped Block by mistake? On iPhone: Settings › Safari › Microphone. On Android Chrome: tap the icon to the left of the address bar › Permissions › Microphone › Allow, then reload.

Three things worth knowing on a phone

  Always open from the icon. A browser tab keeps the address bar, which eats the space the keypad and outcome buttons need.

  Never dial from a private tab. Your session is stored in the browser, so a private window signs you out when it closes — and on some phones takes the microphone permission with it.

  Wired earbuds beat Bluetooth. Bluetooth adds latency on connect and sometimes hands the mic back to the phone mid-call. The cheap wired pair in your drawer is the better dialing headset.
